1 Trillion dollar economy: Florida turns its largest GDP milestone yet
The Florida Chamber Foundation’s Chief Economist Dr. Jerry Parrish, who forecasted this milestone early this year, has announced that the 1 Trillion dollar economy milestone was achieved this month of July.
“Becoming a $1 trillion economy means Florida is continuing to grow and create jobs, keeping unemployment lower than the national average, and creating economic opportunity,” said Parrish on this article on the Florida Chamber of Commerce website.
“Thanks to the focus of Florida’s business community and strong leadership from the Governor, Cabinet and legislature, Florida continues to move in the right direction,” the foundation’s chief assured.
Consulted about this milestone, Florida’s Governor Rick Scott appreciated this as a historic moment for Florida. “Within seven and a half years, private-sector businesses have created more than 1.5 million jobs and Florida’s unemployment is at a low 3.8 percent. Florida’s growing economy is producing real results for families across our state and we now have the 17th largest economy in the world,” detailed Scott.
We all in Florida hope this bonanza turns our state into an economy that serves well all its residents and visitors. Congrats, Florida!
